Welcome to German Immersion
Foundation, Inc.
"Willkommen!"
We are the
German Immersion Foundation and our mission is to provide additional
funding and resources for the Milwaukee German Immersion School (MGIS)
and the Milwaukee School of Languages (MSL) as they help prepare
students to become bilingual, informed and active citizens of the
world. Learn more in our latest
Annual Report.
A Fairy Tale Ending
The
Foundation would like to thank all the gracious donors and enthusiastic
supporters who made the 12th Annual German Immersion Foundation Auction
Night a resounding success.
With more than 200 prize packages in
the live and silent auctions, as well as a variety of raffle options,
the evening is the largest single fundraiser that helps support the
continuing missions of MGIS and the German program at MSL. This year's
event expanded into a larger hall at the Italian Community Center to
accommodate the growing number of attendees, where the theme of the
night was a 200th anniversary celebration of the Brothers Grimm and
their many well-known fairy tales.

"Celebrate Success" Event
Exceeds Expectations
The Foundation’s
first-ever “Celebrate Success” event brought together more than 75
business professionals from across Southeastern Wisconsin to network
and make connections, this January. The event, held at the Grohmann
Museum in downtown Milwaukee, raised more than $4,500 to support German
Immersion education in Milwaukee. View

Make an Immediate Difference
Both the Milwaukee German Immersion School and the Milwaukee
School of Languages German program have a variety of items they still
need to fund for the 2012-2013 school year. Review the Wish List and contact the Foundation
if you are able to help fund one of these classroom needs.
Amity Intern Host Families Needed!!!
Supporting five intern positions for one school year requires
up to 20 families. But as families graduate out of the MGIS and MSL
programs we need to find new families able to host an intern for 9
weeks or one semester. Families who have hosted in the past have found
the experience very rewarding, benefited from learning more about the
German culture, and having a native speaker able to regularly interact
with their children to increase their language skills.
If you don't have the ability to host, or are not able to meet
the program's requirements, you can recommend the opportunity to a
family member or family of a classmate. An Amity Host Family FAQ is
available by clicking here.

The German Immersion Foundation believes in the value and
benefits of a bilingual education. To this goal, the Foundation was
created to enhance and support the programs of the Milwaukee German
Immersion School and the Milwaukee School of Languages - both part of
the Milwaukee Public Schools.
The German Immersion Foundation provides the extra support necessary to
maintain and build excellence in the teaching and educational programs
that have won national and international acclaim for our schools and
our children.
