Supporting five intern positions for one school year requires up to 20 families. But as families graduate out of the MGIS and MSL programs we need to find new families able to host an intern for a 9-week period. Families who have hosted in the past have found the experience very rewarding, benefited from learning more about the German culture, and having a native speaker able to regularly interact with their children to increase their language skills.

The German Immersion Foundation believes in the value and benefits of a bilingual education. To this goal, the Foundation was created to enhance and support the programs of the Milwaukee German Immersion School and the Milwaukee School of Languages - both part of the Milwaukee Public Schools.
The German Immersion Foundation provides the extra support necessary to maintain and build excellence in the teaching and educational programs that have won national and international acclaim for our schools and our children.
The Foundation has created a process where teachers and administrators apply for grants to fund activities that in the past were funded by the school budget.

of becoming bilingual in German and English.
Milwaukee German Immersion School is a 4-year old kindergarten through grade 5 elementary school founded by Milwaukee Public Schools in 1977.
